So, you’ve tried all the creams, serums, and magic skin care potions out there, and yet you’re still looking for an effective way to treat deep lines, wrinkles, sun spots, large pores, thinning skin, and acne scars. Microneedling may just be the solution you’re looking for!
Microneedling is exactly what it sounds like — small needles minimally puncture the skin to draw blood to the surface, which fills those microscopic wounds and starts the healing process. This process stimulates the increased production of collagen and elastin fibers.
Since Microneedling is growing in popularity, we thought we would bring in our own Juvly experts to answer some very important questions!
What are the benefits of Microneedling?
- Shrinks enlarged pores
- Smooths fine lines and wrinkles
- Treats acne scars
- Increases skin tautness/ tightness
- Improves skin texture
- Plumps the skin
New elastin and collagen are stimulated with each treatment. This, in turn, begins to improve the texture, elasticity, and tone to the skin. Microneedling is more known for its bloody nature than its skin benefits. It’s amazing for fine lines, deep lines, sun damage lines, large pores, skin laxity, stretch marks and more.” Master Provider Brandie Girmann, PA-C
It’s bloody — does it hurt?
The pen has dozens of tiny sterile needles that penetrate the skin to the middle layer of skin where all the magic happens. You feel virtually nothing since you will be numbed with topical lidocaine.” – Master Aesthetician Kelsey Anglin, LME
Why do we recommend microneedling?
You may be surprised to learn that microneedling creates some degree of intentional injury to the skin. Yep, we purposely challenge the skin. Our bodies have a remarkable ability to rejuvenate once stimulated to do so.
The result of this procedure is a youthful appearance and softening of fine lines, wrinkles, as well as acne scars and enlarged pores.” – Master Provider Brandie Girmann, PA-C
How many treatments should one get?
3-6 microneedling sessions spaced every 6-8 weeks apart. The great thing about Microneedling is that you can’t do it too many times. Continue treatments at appropriate intervals until you are pleased with your results.
Once you have reached lovely skin improvements, may clients can maintain their results with one treatment every 3-6 months as long as you are still good at protecting your skin from the most common offenders: the sun — wear your SPF daily with reapplication; and acne control — nightly retinol products.” – Master Provider Brandie Girmann, PA-C
Do you have to numb?
No lidocaine, no can do. Therefore, this is not an ideal treatment for pregnant or breast-feeding mamas! The lidocaine allows us to make this a comfortable treatment along with the fact that we must treat the skin at a certain depth to achieve optimal results. Depth is a key difference between medical-grade microneedling and at-home mirconeedling devices.” – Master Provider Brandie Girmann, PA-C
Is there any downtime?
No! The biggest concern I hear with microneedling is about the downtime associated with redness. I get it! We look for skin treatments to help improve our skin and build confidence. Walking around with red and irritated skin is no one’s definition of fun. We recommend booking it at least 2 away from social events.” – Master Provider Brandie Girmann, PA-C
What is the recovery time if there isn’t any downtime?
Recovery time is 24-72 hours for most redness. No makeup on the face — except Oxygenetix foundation — and no sun exposure. 3-5 days of dullness to the skin and minimal flaking. Full recovery with glowing skin in seven days.” – Master Provider Brandie Girmann, PA-C
Why would I be red or pink from this treatment?
The redness seen after microneedling is from the microtrauma that occurred, there is no getting around that. However, I have good news on how to get through it! Now we have a great post-procedure product cover-up, it’s called Oxygenetix. Oxygenetix contains aloe and other safe and beneficial ingredients to slash that “downtime” look.
The add-on is a game changer for my busy clients like parents, realtors, business travelers, social butterflies, and microneedling newbies.” – Master Provider Brandie Girmann, PA-C
What products are recommended for post-treatment?
The pen has dozens of tiny sterile needles that penetrate the skin to the middle layer of skin where all the magic happens. You feel virtually nothing since you will be numbed with topical lidocaine.” – Master Aesthetician Kelsey Anglin, LME
